The scribes and the Pharisees bring this woman to Jesus. She had been taken in adultery. They wanted to be sure the charge would not be considered hear-say, so they told the Lord they had caught her in the very act. They reminded Jesus that Moses had said she should be stoned, “But what do you say about her?” Now they did not bring this woman to Jesus to uphold the law of Moses, they brought her to trick Jesus.
